“Sungazer” is a duo from the USA that combines playfulness with methodicality and creates percussive, yet psychedelic, performances, giving a dose of jazz euphoria that magically calms and transports you to the realm of musical bliss.
Bassist Adam Neely and drummer Shawn Crowder formed Sungazer in July 2014 in Brooklyn, New York, and brought a unique blend of jazz, progressive rock, and EDM to audiences in the US and Europe.
In 2021, they released their debut album, Perihelion. The long-awaited album explores the spaces between jazz improvisation and contemporary electronic music aesthetics. The album was produced and mixed by Simon Grove (“Plini”, “Protest The Hero”, “Intervals”) and features an eclectic lineup of guest musicians: Joshua de la Victoria, Hannah Sumner, Jae Soto, Tom Monda (“Thank You Scientist”), Shubh Saran, Jared Yee, Christian Li, Zac Zinger, Brian Plautz (“Aberdeen”), Brian Krock (“Big Heart Machine”) and “Resonance Collective”.
In addition, Adam Neely has the largest music theory channel on YouTube (6 million views per month, 800 subscribers), and has presented his works at SxSW, TED-X, NPR, Sirius XM, Ableton Loop, and other events.
