NoJo Fest vol. 2

About the event

As Jonas Mekas sang, music is friendship.

This rule is followed by percussionist Dalius Naujokaitis – Naujo, who has lived in New York for 3 decades and has a reputation as an extraordinary musician both in Lithuania and across the Atlantic.

On November 28, jazz drummer and composer Dalius Naujokaitis – Naujo will be coming to the live music club “Tamsta” to hold the one-day festival “NoJo FEST vol. 2” here for the second time. And he is coming not alone, but with his entire orchestra of friends “NoJo Airlines orchestra”. The orchestra consists of more than 30 professional musicians who masterfully play different instruments. In addition to the orchestra, two more unique groups “Vėjeliai” and a completely new group “Tylos kulkos”, formed specifically for this festival, will participate in the festival.
The creator of the festival, Dalius Naujokaitis, plays in New Vilnius in the same way as in New York – with friends and acquaintances. They are all different, they all have a distinct character and an authentic musical style. Despite the undeniable individuality of each musician and the diverse experience accumulated in different musical projects, their professionalism and mastery are even more clearly revealed in the colorful collective – the orchestra of this festival and two more groups scheduled for the program. Moreover, the instrument here becomes both the musician, the listener, and the club space.
The performance of this orchestra at the live music club "Tamsta" is a historic event that one wants to not only experience here and now, but also capture for the future. During the first festival, the entire program was recorded and will be released on vinyl by the second festival on November 28th.
The wonderful Lithuanian musicians will be joined by Professor Vytautas Landsbergis, reading poetry dedicated to Jonas Mekus, the young philosopher, musician and drummer - Adomas Budrevičius, and the artist, poet and musician Eugenijus Varkalis.
As the name of the festival's initiator, Dalius Naujokaitis-Naujas, might suggest, the festival "NoJo FEST Vol. 2" offers a chance to get in the mood for something new - new sounds, emotions and experiences, which will be provided to the audience on the evening of November 28 by the legendary stage of the live music club "Tamsta".
"You do not listen with your ears, you do not see with your eyes, you listen and see with your heart," - the great 12th century Sufi poet Hefez.
